The Monday After… Your NHL Fantasy 3 Stars for the Weekend of 4.25

A few teams were able to close up shop on the 1st round this weekend putting them one step closer to having a date with Lord Stanley. While some teams are making plans for summer vacation. Let’s take a look at a few of the guys that more than likely helped your SideLeague team, flourish.

1st Star: Duncan Keith – Keith came up huge for the Blackhawks and made sure that St. Louis wouldn’t see a Game 7. Keith lit the lamp once and assisted on 3 other goals to help Chicago move on to the 2nd round on Sunday. Keith scored 35 SL points.

2nd Star: Steve Mason – Mason saved 27 shots to help the Flyers even their series with the Rangers this weekend. Mason bent just a tad under all the pressure the Rangers were putting on, but he could not be broken. Mason’s performance netted SL users, 42 SL points.

3rd Star: Mathieu Perreault – Perreault helped the Ducks to a definitive 6-2 victory over Dallas to go up 3-2 in their series. He would score a goal, an assist and 14 penalty minutes. Hockey. The only sport where you earn points for someone’s infractions. The Anaheim center would finish with 30 SL points.

The Afternoon After… Your NHL Fantasy Three Stars for 4/22/14

1st Star: Daniel Carcillo – Well, he sure didn’t make any friends in Philadelphia last night but he did score a goal to help his Rangers to a 4-1 victory. The feisty Rangers forward finished with 21 SL points.

2nd Star: Dan Girardi – Giraradi was also part of the Rangers scoring attack last night adding a goal and an assist of his own. The New York defenseman ended with 23 SL points.

3rd Star: Henrik Lundqvist – King Henrik would deny the Flyers 31 times on Tuesday night to put the Rangers at a 2-1 lead in their 7-game series with the Flyers. Lundqvist continued his stellar postseason run for 36 SL points.

We’re three days away from the end of the NHL regular season and the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with an awkwardly new format. Either way, it should still be a good time. There were some good times had by NHL players last night. Let’s take a look at who had the best time.

1st Star: Nick Bjugstad, Florida Panthers – Bjugstad broke out of his 20-game goalless drought on Thursday night by scoring 2 of em! He also added an assist as well. The Florida center registered 37 SL points in the win.

2nd Star: Pekka Rinne, Nashville Predators – Rinne was on his A-game on Thursday night as the Preds shutout the Coyotes, 2-0. Rinne turned away all 29 shots he saw to finish the night with 44 SL points.

3rd Star: Anders Lindback, Tampa Bay Lightning – Lindback was solid for Tampa in their 4-2 win over Philadelphia on Thursday night. Lindback saved 34 of 36 shots he saw to rack up 34 SL points.

1st Star: Craig Anderson, Ottawa Senators: Anderson made 45 saves in a 4-1 win over the Islanders on Tuesday night. It was a good bounce back from giving up 7 goals on Friday. The Ottawa net minder scored 50 SL points.

2nd Star: Jason Pominville, Minnesota Wild: Pominville was clutch in Minnesota’s win over Boston scoring 2 goals and an assist on Tuesday night. The Minnesota winger went for 36 SL points.

3rd Star: Brad Richards, New York Rangers: Richards notched 2 goals in the Rangers 4-1 win over Carolina last night. Richards snapped a 4-game drought and put up 29 SL points in the process.

We only had one NHL game on the SideLeague slate last night and that was the the Ducks 3-0 shutout over the Canucks. So let’s take a look at the guys who flourished in this contest.

John Gibson, Anaheim Ducks: The man that many people consider the best goaltending prospect in hockey made quite the NHL debut last night. Gibson became the youngest goalie in NHL history to record a shutout in his debut on Monday night. Gibson scored 33 SL points on the night.

Daniel Winnik, Anaheim Ducks: Winnik scored the winning goal while Anaheim was shorthanded. The Anaheim winger’s been solid scoring 5 points in his last 5 games. Winnik scored 19 SL points.

Matt Beleskey, Anaheim Ducks: Beleskey scored his 7th goal of the season on Monday night, I guess that’ll happen when you get some time with the top line. Beleskey’s night earned him 17 SL points.

Your NHL Fantasy Three Stars for 3/11

1st Star, Ondrej Palat, Tampa Bay Lightning: The Lightning may have lost last night’s contest against Phoenix, but they defniitely had some bright spots. The brightest being Ondrej Palat. He had 2 goals in last night’s contest including a goal that forced overtime. He also had an assist which brought his SL point total to 37. 25 points higher than his average. Which also makes him our OVERACHIEVER OF THE NIGHT!

2nd Star, Jeff Zatkoff, Pittsburgh Penguins: Zatkoff was very solid last night helping the Pens knock off the Capitals 3-2. Zatkoff saved 31 of 33 shots giving him 31 SL points on the night, beating his average by 5 points.

3rd Star, Jason Spezza, Ottawa Senators: The Senators lost a close one last night against the Predators, but Spezza had himself a heck of a game. Spezza had 3 points on the night, including the overtime forcing goal. Which gave him an SL point total of 29. 17 higher than his average.

Underachiever of the Night…

Jaroslav Halak, Washington Capitals: Halak had a rough night behind the pipes in the 3-2 loss to the Penguins. If you went with Halak he only got you TWO SL points last night. He usually averages 22. Quite the dropoff.
